#geniustip coming at you from Carl Hester this week...
"You are not a fairy on a tree!
RIDE the horse!" - Carl Hester 📣
This was one of my favourite 'Carl-ism's' and moments from the Carl Hester Masterclass in Brisbane on the weekend! Especially delivered with his trademark dry humour! 😂
There is so much we can learn from this comment, but for me the point I want to share is that we can't hide from the horse when we have the privilege to be on their back...
So when you ARE on your horse - make sure you that you are ALL there!! ✨
That you are present, focused and committed to doing your best! That you put aside your emotions before getting in the saddle, put aside your busy day, your To-Do list and whatever else is going on for you in your life - and just commit to BEING fully there with your horse and in the moment - when you get on.
This is the ingredient to improving your feeling and timing - and being able to listen to the in-the-moment-feedback from the horse, as your brain and body are fully on the job! 🙌
This is also the secret to becoming more confident, calm and connected! Because when you are in the moment and only riding the present stride everything else falls away. Worry, stress and nerves only exist in the PAST or the FUTURE...
If you are overthinking or feeling nervous - you are thinking ahead of the moment that you are in and worrying about what next... If you are remembering and worrying over the past - you are in the past, and not in the moment, here and now!
Just ride the present stride... school your brain to this single task, and watch how this transforms your riding ability and how you can connect and be more confident and relaxed.
Start asking yourself the simple question of "What happens to my riding if I just focus on the single task of RIDING THE PRESENT STRIDE?"
When we are prepared to be fully present, and committed to enjoying the moment, we become more connected, focused and confident.
Let me know how you go with this question this week!
Happy present riding lovelies!
Hello, I'm Stef Winwood, and I love to help riders regain their riding confidence and ditch fear and nerves in the saddle, for good!
As a rider, breeder, coach and ex 'nervous nelly' myself, I know how debilitating and frustrating fear and nerves can be, especially when they are robbing us of enjoying our pride and joy - our magnificent horses! Find out more
